Awareness Programme on Conservation of Indigenous Livestock Organised

        An Awareness Programme on Conservation of Indigenous Livestock and Input Distribution was organised in collaboration with Department of Animal Husbandry, Govt of Meghalaya on 23rd September 2025. The programme was funded from ICAR-Network Project on Animal Genetics Resources and organised at Dholai Bhowal Village under State Veterinary Dispensary, Dangar, East Khasi Hills. A total of 34 tribal farmers attended the day long programme. The participants were made aware about the importance of indigenous livestock and poultry and their conservation. During the programme, Dr Ethman A Marak, Veterinary Officer, State Veterinary Dispensary, Dangar spoke about biosecurity measures in animal farms and importance of vaccination. After the programme, veterinary feed supplements and vitamins were distributed among the beneficiaries. During the valedictory programme, the village headman, Mr S D Marak thanked the Director of the institute and Department of Animal Husbandry, Govt of Meghalaya for conducting such beneficial programmes for the tribal farmers of the state. Dr Sourabh Deori, Senior Scientist & PI was the Organising Secretary for the programme. Dr. Reema Shrestha, YP-II and Dr Sngurbaphyrnai Syiemlieh acted as Resource persons during the programme.
